Instant Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes
so easy to make a big batch of comfort food. Or, a side dish.

Equipment
- 1 pressure cooker
Ingredients
- 2 pounds potatoes, peeled & cut to uniform size if sizes are unruly
- 1 tbsp Kosher salt, course ground
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
- 1 cup milk, whole
- 1/4 cup butter
Instructions
- In the Instant Pot insert add your potatoes, salt, garlic and 1/2 cup water. Stir around a bit and set the lid on the pressure cooker. Set the vent to sealing and cook on STEAM setting for 20 minutes.
- Allow the pressure to release naturally. Remove the lid.
- Drain the potatoes and garlic. let stand in the colander for 5 minutes and then return to your pressure cooker.
While the potatoes are draining:
- Heat the milk and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat.
Mash the potatoes and garlic until mostly smooth.
- Stir in the milk/butter mixture. Taste and season with salt and pepper as desired. Serve warm and top with chives or parsley and a pat of butter.
