It’s that place between the city and the country. The idea behind this name is that no matter where you live, you can stock your pantry, you can learn homesteading skills and you can definitely stick to a food budget by learning to cook for yourself.

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where the trees and rain are plentiful, but the cost of living is very high. My husband, Mark and I have two kids in middle school. We both work from home at our business called Standout Yacht Fittings where we make custom covers for equipment on boats. As if that wasn’t entrepreneurial enough, Mark is the managing broker for his own real estate firm; McColgan Realty & Property Management.

We’ve always tried to eat home cooked meals, and food security is super important to me. Along the way, I’ve developed a passion for food, with an eye toward frugal living. I love to explore and learn about gardening, cooking and preserving food. A well stocked pantry is a thing of joy!
